Evangeline Downs Quarter Horse Meet Opens October 1

OPELOUSAS, LA–SEPTEMBER 3, 2026–Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino will conduct its 2026 Quarter Horse meet from October 1 through December 19, featuring more than $1 million in scheduled stakes purses.
The stakes program begins Saturday, October 3, with the $20,000-guaranteed EVD Dash for 3-year-olds and older at 250 yards. Nominations for the race close September 18.
Two Louisiana-bred stakes will follow the next weekend. The $30,000-guaranteed Amelia Belle Stakes, for fillies and mares 3 and older at 350 yards, will be contested October 9. The $40,000-guaranteed Opelousas Stakes(RG3), for Louisiana-bred 3-year-ol
