Increased Opportunities For LQHBA Yearling Buyers In 2024


Major purse increase for two of the six state-bred futurities for 2-year-olds in 2023 were announced.

ALEXANDRIA, LA–APRIL 19, 2023–Buyers looking to purchase yearlings in the upcoming LQHBA Yearling Sale can expect purse increases for at least two of the seven available stakes races for state-bred 2-year-olds in 2024.

The annual two-day sale will again be held at the Coushatta Casino Resort Pavilion in Kinder, Louisiana August 4 and 5.

The 2024 Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) will enjoy a bump to $125,000-added money for an estimated purse of $600,000 and the LQHBA Sale Futurity will have an estimated purse of $650,000 purse next year. 

Buyers of accredited Louisiana-Bred 2-year-olds will have the opportunity to race their purchases in these stakes events in 2024:

• $1,000,000 LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1)
• $750,000-est. Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1)
• $650,000-est. LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1)
• $600,000-est. Mardi-Gras Futurity (RG2)
• $340,000-est. Laddie Futurity(RG2)
• 340,000-est. Lassie Futurity(RG2)
• $100,000 Louisiana Champion Day Juvenile(RG2)

 

Nominations forms for all these great races will be available at the LQHBA Yearling Sale in Kinder.

All yearlings who pass through the LQHBA Yearling Sale ring are eligible for the LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity(RG1) and the LQHBA Yearling Sale Futurity(RG1). 


Horse who are entered in Louisiana's two-year-old stakes races are subject to hair testing as outlined on lqhba.com.
