LQHBA Consignors Enjoy Across-the-Board Increases In Annual Yearling Sale Completed Saturday

KINDER, LA–AUGUST 6, 2022–The final day of the 46th annual LQHBA Yearling Sale closed this afternoon (AUG 6) with across-the-board increases in Gross, Average and Median.

The final session concluded with 430 horses changing hands of the 513 offered for gross receipts of $8,212,500 to show a 19% increase year-over-year, good for an average price of $19,099, a 23% increase from last year's two sessions, and a median of $13,500, also a 23% increase over 2021. The 83 horses who failed to meet their reserves represent a 19% RNA rate.

"Louisiana based broodmares had the pedigree and black type to provide plenty of quality yearlings in this this sale," LQHBA Executive Director Bruce Salard said. "Horsemen continue to shop here for runners that are eligible to compete in the best breed program in the country."

Saturday's high-seller, Hip 409 MP Shining Dash brought a final bid of $140,000 from Jerry Deville. Grants Farms, LLC consigned the Mr Piloto colt out of Shinningperrydash by First To Shine. The bay colt is a full brother to LQHBA Million Futurity(RG1) winner Mpshinning. MP Shining Dash ended as the sale's third high-seller.

Vista Del Sol Quarter Horses Inc. paid $150,000 for the sale's high-seller in Friday opening session, Hip 253 Playin With Fyre, a son of leading sire Apollitical Blood. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Simmons Racing consigned the half-brother to the nation’s leading 2-year-old, two-time graded stakes winner Tres Crystals. The bay colt is out of Grade 3 winner Crystal Sola by Walk Thru Fire.

Trey Ellis, Agent was the leading buyer with eight purchases grossing $349,500. Jerry Deville paid $286,500 for six head and Vista Del Sol Quarter Horses, Inc. purchased six yearling totaling $285,000.

Grant Farms, LLC was the leading consignor or agent with 34 head for $900,800 in gross receipts. Tate Farms, LLC sold 27 head for $588,300 and Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent ahd 27 head bring $537,200. 

Heza Fast Dash was the leading sale sire (by average, two or more sold) with two head averaging $59,750. Apollitical Blood had 20 yearlings average $50,775 and Freighttrain B saw 50 head average $31,100.

Rip Tide led first-crop sale sires (by average, two or more sold) with 18 head averaging $21,283. Champion Tarzanito had 14 head for $18,286 and Eagle Deluxe saw 15 head average $13,047.
