Numbers Rise Across-the-Board in Opening Session of 45th Annual LQHBA Yearling Sale Friday

KINDER, LA—AUGUST 6, 2021—Breeders' enjoyed across-the-board rises in Gross, Average and Median in the opening session of the 45th Annual LQHBA Yearling Sale on Friday in Kinder, Louisiana.

The sale's first session saw 275 hips go through the ring today, with 235 sold for gross receipts of $3,569,600. The 2020 session opening receipts were $2,263,500 on 186 head sold.

Average price today was $15,190, a 20% increase over last year's opening day average of $12,169. The median rose 5% to $10,700, compared to $9,700 on 2020's day 1.

TM Ranch paid $100,000 for Friday's high-seller Apolliticial Delight, a son of leading third-crop sire Apollitical Blood. The bay colt is from the first crop from the Tres Seis mare Peacefull Delight, a Grade 1-finalist and half-sister to AQHA Racing World Champion Be A Bono and RG1 winner Peace Fire. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Simmons Ranch was the consignor.

Jerry Deville purchased Friday's second high-seller, Hip 81 Tf Crown Reserve for $81,000. Tate Farm, LLC, Agent for Tate Farms and Ron L. Habetz consigned the son of multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess from the RG3 winner and graded stakes producer Toast To Mallard by Toast To Dash. The sorrel colt is a half-brother to Mardi Gras Derby winner T Boy C and Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1)-placed Tf El Whiskey.

Brian Gunder paid $72,000 for the third-high seller Friday, Hip 242, Rogues Black Magic, a brother to stakes winner and RG1-placed Jet Black Rouge and nine other black-type runners. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Triple M Farms, LLC was the consigned the Jet Black Patriot colt out of Miss Jess Rogue by Mr Jess Perry.

TYKHE Racing, LLC was Friday's' leading buyer with five purchases grossing $168,000. TM Ranch had two for $135,500 and Jerry Deville had the one for $80,000.

Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent was the opening day leading consignor or agent with 14 head grossing $311,200. Grant Farms, LLC had 10 head gross $211,500 and Blanchet Farms, LLC sold 14 head for $166,400.

Apollitical Blood was the opening session leading sale sire (by average, two or more sold, with six head averaging $40,117. One Dashing Eagle had four head average $23,500 and Ajs Fast Dash had two head average $23,250.
