LQHBA Yearling Sale Kicks Off New Schedules With $45,000 Pair

KINDER, LA—AUGUST 3, 2017—A pair of Heza Fast Dash yearlings kicked off day-1 of the annual LQHBA Yearling Sale in Kinder as co-sale toppers at $45,000 each.

For the second time in it's 41-year history the sale is being conducted in three-sessions, with the first an evening session of catalog pages 1 thru 120 on Thursday night.

"We had a very enthusiastic crowd and an excellent turnout," LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson said following Thursday's opening session. "For our first ever evening session, we were pleased with the numbers."

Eighty-three state-breds from the 115 who actually entered the sales ring sold for $777,300 gross and averaged $9,365. The opening night median hit $6,700.

Leading trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. purchased Hip 42, Heza Fast Yall, for $45,000 from the consignment of Donald Aymond, Agent. A son of Heza Fast Dash, the sorrel colt is out of the Lee Berwick Futurity(RG3) winner Jess Me Yall ($106,455), by Mr Jess Perry. She is the dam of 8 ROM including Lassie Futurity(RG2) winner Jess Big Time ($193,302), Texas Classic Futurity(G1) runner-up Jessazoom ($276,422).

Fabian Hernandez paid $45,000 for Hip 83, PM Heza Zuper Fast, a brother to multiple RG2 winner Zupers Quick Dash ($471,129), multiple RG1 winner MCM Dashmaster ($425,487) and stakes-placed Mcm Zuper Man ($130,218). Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent consigned the son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash from the Zuppardo's Prince (TB) mare Oh Shez Zuper.

The aforementioned Fabian Hernandez was the leading buyer in the opening session with two head for $52,500. Jerry Cesar purchased five yearlings for $48,200 and Kenneth Roberts, Agent had the one for $45,000.

Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent, was the leading consignor or agent in the opening session with seven yearlings grossing $129,700. Tate Farms had six for $53,800 and Donald Aymond, Agent had the co-high seller for $45,000.

Heza Fast Dash was the leading sale sire on the first day, by average of two or more sold, with five head averaging $31,200. Jess Louisiana Blue had five for $18,400 and Game Patriot sold two for $17,500 average.

Five Bar Cartel was the leading first-year sale crop sire, by average with two or more sold, with four for $10,675 and Highest Fire had three head average $10,633.
