Strong Numbers Kickoff LQHBA 2016 Yearling Sale on Friday

The yearling sale sold 206 of 269 head passing through the ring on day one for $2,454,800. The $11,917 average is slightly up from last year's sale average and the median of $7,500 was significantly up from $7,000 in 2015.
"We are very pleased with our first day and look forward to an even better second session tomorrow," LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson said last Friday.
T M Ranch paid $105,000 for the high-seller Hip 32 Cant Catchacorona on Friday. Montgomery Equine Center consigned the brother to AQHA Racing Champion Open Me A Corona. The gray colt by multiple stakes sire Coronas Leaving You is out of the Mr Eye Opener mare In The Open.
T M Ranch also purchased the high-selling filly, Hip 189 Unemaginable, in the opening session for $70,000. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Danny Trahan Quarter Horses consigned the daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash from the Dash For Cash mare Real Or Imagined. The bay filly is a sister or half-sister to six stakes horses.
T M Ranch lead all buyers with five purchased totaling $295,000. Heath Taylor, Agent signed the ticket for 10 head totaling $215,500 and Rogelio Marquez purchased three yearlings for $122,000.
Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent led first day consignors and agents by gross with 15 head for $361,500. Tate Farms had six yearlings gross $144,500 and Jumonville Farms sold nine yearlings for $130,300.
Jess Cuervo led all sale sires (by average with two or more sold) with three yearlings averaging $25,667 from his first crop. Leading sire Heza Fast Dash saw 22 yearlings average $24,409 and champion sire Coronas Leaving You has 11 head at $24,182.
Fast Prize Jordan was second leading first crop sale sire with six yearlings averaging $8,283.
