Six-Figure Yearling Tops LQHBA Opening Day


Hez For Real, a colt by Heza Fast Dash, topped the opening session of the 39th annual LQHBA Yearling Sale Friday at $135,000.

KINDER, LA—AUGUST 7, 2015—Watson Land & Cattle Co. paid $135,000 for Hez For Real, a colt by leaching sire Heza Fast Dash, on the opening day of the 39th LQHBA Yearlings Sale at the Coushatta Resort in Kinder, Louisiana. The final day of the two-day annual event will get underway at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday).

Opening session numbers saw 216 head of the 298 offered gross $2,584,900 and average $11,967. The Median price was $7,000.

"We are very proud of our overall numbers today and we look forward to an excellent second day," LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson said Friday evening.

Consigned by Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Danny Trahan Quarter Horses, Hez For Real is out of the Dash For Cash mare Real Or Imagined and is a full brother to stakes winner Unrealistic and a half-brother to four other stakes winners.

Heza Fast Dash sired the three top sellers on Friday including Dashin For Dreams, a filly purchased by TM Ranch for $85,000. Also consigned by Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent, Dashin For Dreams is out of the multiple stakes-producing Dash For Cash mare Vision of Dash.

TM Ranch also purchased Gunpowder Gertie, a Heza Fast Dash filly out of Natalieonethebeach, by Jess Louisiana Blue, for $70,000. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc. consigned the filly as agent for Jo Baya Foreman.

TM Ranch led first day buyers with five purchased totaling $307,000. Heath Taylor Agent signed the ticked for seven head for $202,000 and Watson Land & Cattle Co. had the one yearling for $135,000.

Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent was the leading consignor with nine head for $207,500. They also sold the one yearling for Danny Trahan Quarter Horses for $135,000, two for Jo Baya Foreman for $125,000 and two for Triple M Farms, LLC for $60,000.

Grant Farms was the second leading consignor on day 1 with 10 head totaling $207,400 and Jumonville Farms was number three with eight yearlings for $144,200.

Jess Louisiana Blue was the leading sale sire on day 1 (by average with two or more sold) with two head averaging $42,500 Heza Fast Dash had 20 head average $28,100 and Game Patriot had 14 head average $21,271.
