$82,000 LQHBA Sale Graduate Wins Laddie Stakes at Delta Downs Saturday

VINTON, LA–MAY 25, 2024–Louisiana Dee Light broke his maiden in his second career start Saturday when he won the $40,000 Laddie Stakes for 2-year-old state-bred colts & gelding who didn't qualify for the restricted Grade 2 Laddie Futurity.

Louisiana Dee Light drifted in under jockey Juan Garcia, Jr., defeating Big Dashin Eagle by three-quarters. The son of multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel clocked the 330 yards in 16.910 seconds, equaling an 89 speed index. The $24,000 winners' purse boosted his bankroll to $26,000 from two starts.

M. Heath Taylor trains the $82,000 LQHBA Sale graduate for owner Rancho El 48 LLC. Simmons Racing bred the bay colt from the Tres Seis mare Peacefull Delight, a half-sister to world champion Be A Bono.

Runner-up Big Dashin Eagle earned $8,000 for owner Party Tyme Racing. Trainer Jose Espinosa, named jockey J.R. Ramirez, to ride the One Dashing Eagle gelding out of Dashin Kate Perry by Dashin Bye. CP Equine Partners LLC bred the $45,000 LQHBA Sale graduate.

Pilot Perry, a $14,000 LQHBA Sale graduate, finished a head back to take home $4,400 for third. Martin Osuna had the riding call for owner Guerras Racing Stables and trainer Gilberto Gonzalez. Leigh Perry bred the Mr Piloto gelding from the One Sweet Jess mare Jess Catch A Dream. Also a finalist in the Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2), Pilot Perry has earned $29,839 in four starts.

G Forze, Ace Trains R Forever, Tac It Blood, Nito, and Avatar completed the field. Estrellas Blue Jess and San Lorenzo Firulais were both scratched.
