Wild Train Fortunes Just Wins The $30,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes

VINTON, LA–SEPTEMBER 3, 2022–Kenneth Roberts, Sr. trained the top two finishers in the $30,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes Saturday evening at Delta Downs. The 350-yard stakes is for two-year-old Louisiana bred fillies who had the fastest non-qualifying times to the LQHBA Sale Futurity on August 12.

Wild Train Fortune and jockey Juan Garcia, Jr posted up with 9-1 odds at the gate. The duo broke in the middle of the pack making a late surge for the wire in a four-way photo finish over Rf Debs Dash N Blue, New Blend and Bad Mammie 23.

Wild Train Fortunes’ neck victory in :17.773 seconds for a 94 speed index paid the wagering public $21.40 to win. With a race record of 2-1-1 from five starts, the $18,000 winner’s share upped her earnings to $28,530.

Riley Blanchet and Rodney Verret partnered up after purchasing Wild Train Fortune for $34,000 in last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale. Bred by Riley Blanchet, the filly is out of multiple stakes winner Cartels Fortune by Carters Cartel.

Runner-up Rf Debs Dash N Blue, under Gilbert Ortiz, has lit the board 4 out 5 starts with $22,900 in earnings. Bred and owned by Tim and Jennie Rogers of Rogers Farm, she is an $85,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate. The daughter of Jess Louisiana Blue is out of Fast Dash N Derby by Heza Fast Dash

Third place finisher New Blend, ridden by Leonard Rodriguez, broke her maiden in her trial heat to the Debutante Stakes and has $10,938 in earnings. Adan Guzman saddled the RC Me Leaving You filly for owner Juan Manuel Ortiz Reyes. 

The Bennie and Terry Jeter bred filly was bought back for $17,500 in the 2021 LQHBA Yearling Sale. New Blend is out of Volcom Bay by Volcom.

The remaining order of finish is Bad Mammie 23, Avasippingoncoronas, elegant Blues Girl, Mrs Kennedy Tlc, Miss Apolitical and Mamaigotthis.

Delta Downs kicked off its final week of American Quarter Horse racing for 2022 on Friday night with an eight-race program featuring the $30,0000 De Saix Stakes for 2-year-old competing at 330 yards. The Louisiana track will complete its Quarter Horse season with a special 10-race program on Saturday with first post time at 6:15 pm. The card will include six stakes races headed by the $525,420 Louisiana Quarter Horse Association Futurity.
