Sheza Fregihttrain T Dominates Mother’s Day Stakes at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA—MAY 21, 2022—Graded stakes winner Sheza Fregihttrain T dominated the $35,000 Mother’s Day Stakes Saturday night at Delta Downs with an impressive 1-3/4 length win over Tee Zo.

Under jockey Everardo Rodriguez, Sheza Fregihttrain T completed the 350 yards in :17.505 seconds, equaling a 92 speed index.  It was the 11th career win in 18 starts for the daughter of world champion sire Freighttrain B. The $21,000 winner’s purse boosted her bankroll to $474,605.

Charles Duke Shults trains the brown filly for owner Patrick Richardson. Bred in Louisiana by Rusty Trahan Sheza Fregihttrain T is out of Cloning Around by Carters Cartel.

Runner-up Tee Zee put in a late surge under jockey J.R. Ramirez to earn $7,000 for her second-place effort. Larry Keith conditions the Tee Cos 4-year-old for owner Joseph Landreneau.  Bayou Stirling Equine LLC bred the multiple stakes-placed filly from the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Sayin The Blues. She has earned $110,201 in 17 career starts.

Cwfasttrack finished three-quarters back to pick up $3,850 for third. The Mr Ease Cartel 3-year-old races for owner Odie Lee Charles, Jr. and is trained by Gregory Williams. Cecil Walker bred the brown filly in Louisiana from the Heza Fast Dash mare Bt Sheza Baby Spoon. She has earned $19,508. Camilo Castillo had the riding assignment.

Fast Dashin Logan, Five Bar Miracle, Get It Done Babe and Kp Prospect completed the field.

Delta Downs will race again next Wednesday through Saturday. The track will host three stakes races next week including the $310,695 Lassie Futurity on Friday as well as the $331,880 Laddie Futurity and $40,000 Vinton Stakes on Saturday. Post time each night is at 6:15 pm.
