Big Jack Perry Rolls In Closer To Set Fastest Time In Delta Schooling Races Thursday Night


LQHBA Sale Graduate Big Jack Perry set the fastest time from 11 training races for 2-year-old colts & geldings Thursday at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA–APRIL 14, 2022–Big Jack Perry, a brother to RG1-placed Five Bar Perry, posted the fastest schooling race time from 51 two-year-old colts & geldings who participated in 11 schooling races Thursday night at Delta Downs.

All participants remained eligible for the upcoming Laddie Futurity(RG2) trials on May 6th or the Old South Futurity trials on April 29th.

Under jockey Everardo Rodriguez, Big Jack Perry popped for the gate and took control easily as he won the last of 11 races by 2-3/4 lengths. His time of :12.335 seconds the was fastest of the night.

Trainer Jose Lopez saddled the $35,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate for owner Jose Espinosa.  The son of multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel is out of the RG2-placed Rakin In The Cash mare Miss Classy Perry. A half-sister to stakes winner Kittys Fast Dash she is the dam of 5 winners including multiple stakes-placed Five Bar Perry who was third in the 2018  Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs.

Blanchet Farms, LLC consigned the sorrel gelding to the LQHBA sale for breeder Dennis Mills Partners, LLC.

San Lorenzo Jet, a $49,000 LQHBA Sale graduate, got the second fastest time following a head win over Jess Open It in Race 7. Ridden by jockey David Alvarez the son of Jet Black Patriot posted a :12.385 clocking for trainer Jesus Marquez.

Rogelio Marquez, Jr. owns the bay gelding who sold in the LQHBA Sale under the name of RF Delta Jet. Bred by Rogers Farm, from the track record setting stakes-placed Fly Jess Fly mare Miss Delta Duck. This the family of multiple graded stakes winner Duck Mea Running.

Runner-up Jess Open It finished the night with the third fastest clocking of :12.411. The $14,500 LQHBA Sale graduate and son of champion Open Me A Corona races for owner 4C Racing and is trained by Adriana Vallejo.

Jockey J.R. Ramirez rode the chestnut colt out of Jesst Do It by leading sire Apollitical Jess. This is the family Grade 3 winner Believe Me Irene.  Kenneth Garcia is the breeder.

Juan Cano led all trainers to saddled three winners on Thursday's card—Race 2 winner Flyingontheground; Race 3 winner Red Texas Patriot; and Race 9 winner Ajs Fast Corona. Trainers Jose Lopez and Jesus Marquez saddled to winners each.

Owners Jose Espinosa and Rogelio Marquez, Jr. had two winners each Thursday night.

Jet Black Patriot led all sire with three winners. Other stallions with winners on Thursday were Ajs Fast Dash, Apollitical Blood, Flyin Color, Jess Louisiana Blue, One Dashing Eagle and Open Me A Corona.
