VINTON, LA—APRIL 29, 2021—Crown Jewels, a 2-year-old Five Bar Cartel filly, topped 49 two-year-old fillies who participated in 10 schooling races today (Thursday) at Delta Downs, for horses who remain eligible for the Lassie Futurity(G1) and the Old South Futurity.

The 46-day Delta Downs Quarter Horse meet will get underway on Monday, May 10 and run through July 31. The Old South Futurity trials will be contested May 11th and the Lassie Futurity(RG2) trials are scheduled for May 21st.

Saddled by leading trainer M. Heath Taylor, Crown Jewels won the seventh race. Jockey Arturo Alvarez guided the filly down the inside rail to get the fastest 220 yard training race clocking of :12.07 seconds off a 1-1/4 length winning effort.

A home-bred racing for Harlow Stables, LLC, Crown Jewels will be the first starter of the Grade 2 winning Jess Louisiana Blue mare Louisiana Jewels, winner of the 2016 Lassie Futurity(RG2) at Delta Downs. The second dam is the stakes winning First Down Jewel mare Jewels Fortune, dam of five black type winners.

Champion trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. saddled the second and third fastest 2-year-old fillies in today's 10 training races.

Flying Adelia, under jockey David Alvarez, won the second race over Return the Queen by half-a-length with a :12.08 clocking. The bay daughter of leading third-crop sire Apollitical Blood races for owner-breeder Margaret McKerley.

Out of the stakes-placed Strawfly Special mare Flying Marguerita, Flying Adelia is from the family of multiple graded winner Vals Streak, Haileighs Reeds Dash and Sweet Bru.

Roberts sent out Shesabadmoonrising, a $25,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate, to win ninth race in :12.13 for the third fastest clocking. She defeated Forever Corona Chick by a head. Bred by Spring Hill Farms, the daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash sold under the name A Dash Of Vodka in last summer's sale.

Shesabadmoonrising is the first foal out of Grade 2-placed Jen And Vodka, a half-sister to restricted Grade 1 winner Dashnunder Afullmoon, winner of the Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1), also by Heza Fast Dash. Jason Richards and Michael Leblanc, who have campaigned multiple top fillies in the Louisiana over the past few years, are the owners.
