Ss Classyjess Gets Sixth 2020 Stakes Win In Evangeline's Sam's Town Saturday

OPELOUSAS, LA—DECEMBER 12, 2020—Ss Classyjess raced to his sixth stakes win this year in an impressive one-length winning performance over Portfolioh in the $25,000 Sam's Town Stakes Saturday night at Evangeline Downs.

Under jockey Juan Garcia, Ss Classyjess completed the 350 yards, over open-bred 3-year-olds and up, in :17.437 seconds, equaling a 97 speed index. Conditioned by trainer Jose Carrizales, SS Classyjess kicked off the year with a win in the Swift Stakes at Louisiana Downs last January.

He also won the Miss Retama and Live Oak Stakes at Retama Park over the summer. His fall campaign at Lone Star Park included winning the Neville Stakes and the Yellow Rose Of Texas Stakes. Ss Classyjess was also second in the Harrah's Dash Stakes and third in the Selma Stakes in 2020.

Racing for owner Edgar Rosales, the son of Rock Solid Jess has compiled a (29) 12-7-5 record and the $12,000 Sam's Town winner's purse boosted his career mark to $266,831. Ronnie Steward and Double S Farm bred the 4-year-old in Texas from the Royal Shake Em mare High Class Broad.

Also a Texas-bred, runner-up Portfolioh earned $4,000 for owners Sergio Holguin, Clifton Nielsen and Felix Rodriguez. Alonso Neri trains the Coronas Fast Dash 3-year-old out of Jess A Lil Bit More by Mr Jess Perry. Bobby D. Cox bred the multiple stakes-placed earner of $62,247. Victor Urieta, Jr. had the riding call.

Black Cazador, under jockey Tanner Thedford, picked up $2,200 for third. Frank Cavazos trains the Oak Tree Special 4-year-old for owner-breeder Raul Rubalcava. The Oklahoma-bred gelding out of Miracle Hock, by Shazoom, has earned $76,296.

Hot Dam Bam A Lam, Vf My Favorite Chick, Mr Corona Crystal, Seis Train B, Heza Lawman, Dm La Jolla and Dlj Imma B Famous completed the field.
