Sir Runaway Cash Gets The Cash In Rich LQHBA Sale Futurity


Sir Runaway Cash, under jockey John Hamilton, winning the 428,475 LQHBA Sale Futurity(RG1) Saturday afternoon at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—SEPTEMBER 7, 2019—Sir Runway Cash broke on top then drifted in under jockey John Hamilton while defeating Ed O by half-length in the $428,475 LQHBA Sale Futurity(RG1) Saturday afternoon at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.

Saddled by trainer David Bustamante, Sir Runaway Cash completed the 350 yards in :17.505 seconds, a 96 speed index, to pick up the winner's purse valued at $192,814. Owner Meal Ticket Racing purchased the son of multiple stakes sire Sir Runaway Dash for $9,000 at the 2018 LQHBA Yearling Sale.

Bred by Tracy Smithwick, from the Heza Fast Dash mare McM Premo Dash, Sir Runaway Cash has compiled a (5) 3-1-0 record this season and banked more than $230,880. The bay gelding was also a finalist in the RG1 $700,293 Lee Berwick Futurity at Delta Downs.

Runner-up Ed O posted this third second-place futurity effort this season for owner Edwardo Lopez and trainer Jose Lopez. Also second in the Lee Berwick Futurity(G1) and second in the LQHBA Laddie Futurity(RG2), the $72,841 second-place purse boosted Ed O's bankroll to $271,490.

Anthony Gaspard and E.A. Landry, Jr., bred the $4,700 LQHBA Sale repurchase from the Heza Fast Dash mare Shezadashinatcha. Noe Villatoro has the riding call on Ed O.

Brileys Prize, a $15,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale repurchase, finished a neck back in third to earn $42,848. Mardonio Flores, Jr. trains the son of third-crop sire AJs Fast Dash for owner R C Stables LLC. Arnold Trahan bred the sorrel gelding from the Mr Jess Perry mare Ms Wandas Prize. Ricardo Hernandez, Jr. was riding.

Fastest qualifier Jess A Cajun finished third, followed by Jess A Runaway Blaze, Rebas Louisiana Blue, Perfect Professional, Taylor Made Central and Ms Diamond Prize.
