A Painted Dynasty Sets Fastest Time For The Firecracker Futurity At Delta Downs

A Painted Dynasty, under jockey Nestor Duran, rolls to the fastest qualifying time for the $308,335 Firecracker Futurity (G2) on Saturday night at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—JUNE 8, 2019—Delta Downs conducted eight trials for this year’s $308,335 Firecracker Futurity (G2) on Saturday night and the fastest time of the evening was accomplished by Jardiel Perez’s A Painted Dynasty.

The Josue Ponce trainee stopped the clock in :17.394 seconds under jockey Victor Urieta, Jr. while racing on a fast track. The clocking equaled a speed index of 96.

Each of the trials Saturday night carried a purse of $6,000 and the winner’s each earned $3,600 for their efforts. Third in the Grade 2 Sam Houston Futurity in his last start, A Painted Dynasty now sports a career bankroll of $56,807 on two wins from four overall trips to the starting gate.

Bred in Oklahoma by The Mixer Ranch, A Painted Dynasty is a 2-year-old bay colt by world champion sire FDD Dynasty, out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Third Painted Sign.

Lovethewayyourun finished three-quarters back in the same trial to get the second fastest time of $;17.539 seconds, a 92 speed index. Josue Huitron conditions the One Dashing Eagle colt for owner Florentino Leon. Thomas Bradbury bred the bay colt in Colorado from the Corona Cartel mare Duplicate Check. He has finished second in three starts and was fifth in the Sam Houston Juvenile.

Josue Ponce also saddled third-fastest qualifier Expedyte, a one-length winner in the fourth trial, stopping the clock at :17.546 seconds, a 91 speed index. Raedele Phipps owns the undefeated Sam Houston Juvenile winner of more than $19,000. The son of Freighttrain B from the Shazoom mare Shazumba is 3-for-3. Bobby D. Cox is the breeder.

Delta Downs will begin its ninth week of live American Quarter Horse racing on Wednesday night with 10-race program that kicks off at 6:15 pm CST. Next week’s action includes five qualifying trials for this year’s Delta Downs Derby on Friday night and 15 trials for the Lee Berwick Futurity on Saturday. The Saturday card will feature a special early post time of 3:45 pm CST.
