Fast N Famous Eagle Rebounds In The $15,000 Harrah’s Dash At Louisiana Downs

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 5, 2019—Harrah’s Louisiana Downs kicked off its 2019 American Quarter Horse season on Saturday afternoon with sunny skies and a riveting finish in the $15,000 Harrah’s Dash.

Joe M. Davis’ Fast N Famous Eagle, runner up to Scoopies Leaving You in last year’s edition of the stakes, surged down the center of the track under jockey Everardo Rodriguez in close tandem with The Golden Bowl and Three Bar Cartel. The photo finish revealed Fast N Famous Eagle as the winner, covering 250-yards in a swift :13.002 over a fast track.

Bred in Texas by Oscar Lozano, Fast N Famous Eagle is by One Famous Eagle, out of the Heza Fast Man mare One Fast Kisser. Today’s win marked his seventh victory from 30 starts with the winner’s share of $9,000 boosting his lifetime earnings to $114,577.

He began his career in Indiana and won the $15,000 Swift Stakes last January at Louisiana Downs.

"I was just hoping to break with the one (Globito)," said Davis. "This horse is even better at 350-yards, so I knew he could outfinish him."

Sent to the gate as the fourth betting choice in the nine-horse field, Fast N Famous Eagle paid $13.60 for the win,. The Golden Bowl, owned by 2017 LQHBA champion owner, Rogelio Marquez, Jr., ran second under Antonio Alberto, followed by Three Bar Cartel under jockey Jesse Levario.

Davis, who also trains the 6-year-old multiple-stakes winner, was honored as the 2018 leading owner here. He has 27 horses stabled at Louisiana Downs and reported that Fast N Famous Eagle will defend his title in the Swift Stakes on January 26.

Trainer Fernando Lopez conditions the graded stakes winner Golden Bowl. Bred by Jorge Meraz, the Mr Eye Opener 5-year-old is out First Dashin Bye by Dashin Bye. He picked up $3,000 to boost this earnings mark to $65,000.

Grade 2 Dash For Cash Futurity winner Three Bar Cartel is owned by Ruben Montemayor and trained by Josue Ponce. The son of Capo de Capi, from the Mr Eye Opener mare Eysa Ridicolous, was bred in Oklahoma by Dr. Curtis Smith. He has earned nearly $230,000.

Post time favorite Globito broke well, but weakened to finish fourth. Dm La Jolla, Tdz Fast Dasher, Perrys Dynasty, Kas Tempting and One Sweet Merlot completed the order of finish. Lil Bro Streak was an early scratch.

Live racing continues Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at 1:00 pm. The 2019 Quarter Horse meet runs through March 20.
