Jw Who Dat Tallies A Victory In The Virgil Bond Stakes At Delta Downs


Jw Who Dat, under jockey Antonio Alberto, easily winning the 870 yard $36,100 Virgil Bond Stakes at Delta Downs Friday night.

VINTON, LA—JUNE 1, 2018— Delta Downs hosted its only stakes race of the week on Friday night and it featured a field of eight distance horses squaring off in the $36,100 Virgil Bond Stakes at 870 yards.

When the dust settled it was Fernando Ramirez’s JW Who Dat who was victorious with jockey Antonio Alberto in the saddle. The win marked Jw Who Dat’s third stakes win of the year and it was Alberto’s third stakes win of the season in the saddle.

After breaking from the gate in front, Alberto guided Jw Who Dat to the rail around the far turn. When the field hit the top of the homestretch he was a length in front of Dark Bark who took a run at the eventual winner couldn’t get there. At the finish line Jw Who Dat was 1-3/4 lengths to the good of Dark Bar, while Rakin In The Jax settled for third another 4-3/4 lengths behind the top pair.

The winner covered distance over a fast track in 46.094 seconds, which equaled a speed index of 94.

Jw Who Dat, who was saddled by trainer Eric Palacio, has now won seven of his 27 lifetime starts. He earned $24,000 for his win on Friday and now boasts a career bankroll of $91,392.

Bred in Louisiana, Jw Who Dat is a 6-year-old bay gelding by Agouti, out of the Heza Fast Man mare Ew Comment.

Dark Bark, a 5-year-old son of world champion sire Oak Tree Special races for owner Onel Marquez and trainer Eduardo Morales. Noe Castaneda rode the gelding from the Thoroughbred mare Trio Gal by Tasso. Bred in Texas by Rose Mary Chandler, Dark Bark picked up $5,000 for the effort.

Trainer Jason Magnon saddled third-place finisher Rankin In The Jax for owner/breeder Angela Dowden. Devin Magnon rode the 5-year-old son of Rakin In The Cash from the Panther Mountain m are Alcohol And Ambiance. The multiple stakes-placed gelding boosted his earning to $82,969 after pickup $4,400 tonight.

Sent to the gate at odds of 4-1, Jw Who Dat paid $10.20 to win, $5.20 to place and $4 to show. Dark Bark was worth $5.60 to place and $4 to show. Rakin in the Jax returned $12.20 to show.

Jes A Spitfire, Im Mighty Fast, Jack Ketel, Absolute Shot and God I Am Handsome completed the field.
