Corona Ranger Upsets Evangeline Downs Futurity Field

Corona Ranger covered the 400 yards in a final time of :19.768 seconds for a speed index of 96.
Corona Ranger paid $40.60 to win, $8.20 to place, and $10.60 to show. Sunset Run returned $8.00 to place and $4.20 to show. Eos a Political Win paid $4.80 to show.
Corona Ranger was bred in Oklahoma by Bollenbach Farms from the Azoom mare Azoom Babe.
Making just his second career start, Sunset Run picked up $52,564 for his second-place effort. Trainer Miguel Rodriguez saddled the FDD Dynasty gelding for owner Jose Alfonso Ramos. Raul Ramirez, Jr. was aboard the Jim Streelman and Bill Dale Missouri-bred from the Mr Jess Perry mare Summer Love Song.
Trainer Rolando Almanza saddled third-place finisher Eos A Political Win for owner Elite Oilfield Services. Second in the Speedhorse Futurity(G3) earlier this year, the Apollitical Jess colt is out of Pithia by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Rey and Celia Nieto bred the $113,471 earner. Jesse Levario had the riding assignment.
Capitan Jimbob, Kas Tempting, Sr Shambles, Fdd Lajolla, Alluringeyeopener, This Is An Eagle and Independence B completed the field.
Live racing at Evangeline Downs will resume on Monday afternoon with a 10-race program. Post time on Monday is scheduled for 3:15 pm Central Time.
