VINTON, LA—APRIL 22, 2017—Delta Downs conducted a special 15-race program on Friday night to accommodate qualifying trials for this year’s Louisiana Lassie Futurity (RG2). This year’s Lassie will feature a record purse of $322,285 and the final will take place Friday, May 19. The top 10 fastest times from the trials earned a spot in the big race.

There was plenty of drama to go around during the Lassie trials as two horses tied for the fastest time of the night. There was also a tie for the 10th fastest clocking, which required a shake by the stewards in the racing office to determine which horse earned the right to run in the grade 2 event in three weeks.

The fastest time of the night was :16.809 seconds for 330 yards and it was accomplished by Ttt Kas in the first race of the night and Miss Tee Lajolla in the ninth. All 15 trials were conducted over a fast track. Each horse earned a speed index of 92 for their effort. Delta Downs offered a total purse of $10,000 in each of the trial races.
