Jess Bein The Hero Gets Up In Streakin La Jolla Stakes at Louisiana Downs

BOSSIER CITY, LA—MARCH 18, 2017—Multiple stakes winner Jess Bein The Hero got his fourth win in five starts on Saturday after defeated A Kool Secret by a neck in the $15,000 Streakin La Jolla Stakes at Louisiana Downs. Apollitical Wave finished 4 ˝ lengths behind the field in third place.

Ridden by jockey Santiago Mendez, Jess Bein The Hero dueled A Kool Secret to the wire while completing the 400 yards in a quick :19.499 clocking, a 107 speed index into a 10 mph crosswind.

Trainer Miguel Rodriguez saddled the Valiant Hero 4-year-old for owner Juan Martinez-Labastida. The $9,000 winner's purse boosted black colt's earnings total to $51,533.

Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Braggin. He is 2-for-2 this season after winning the Swift Stakes at Louisiana Downs in his last start.

Runner-up in the 2015 Grade 3 Harrah's Futurity, A Kool Secret picked up $3,000 for his second place effort. Santiago Riojas, Jr. trains the No Secrets Here 4-year-old for owner/breeders Cynthia Cruz and Norma Guerrero. Lucas Constantin had the riding call on the colt out of A Kool Zoom, by Shazoom.

Owned-and-trained by Scott Hamilton, Apollitical Wave earned $1,650 for third. Rene Gutierrez rode the Apollitical Jess 4-year-old out of Wave Running by Wave Carver. Bred by Francisco Javier Garza, Apollotical Wave has earned nearly $17,500.

Louisiana Legends and Rebas Tres Seis completed the field. Tm Dees Prize was scratched.
