Rdd Lajollanfastdash Catches Jls Shakem Tee Cos at Wire in Rich LQHBA Sale Futurity(RG1)


Rdd Lajollanfastdash (#4) catches Jls Shakem Tee Cos (#2) at the wire to win the $323,488 LQHHA Sale Futurity(RG1) at Fair Grounds Race Course on Saturday.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—SEPTEMBER 3, 2016—Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) winner Rdd Lajollanfastdash dug in at the wire to catch Jls Shakem Tee Cos by a nose in the RG1 $323,488 LQHBA Sale Futurity at Fair Grounds Race Course Saturday afternoon. Fastest qualifier One Hot Flame finished half-a-length back in the show position.

Ridden by jockey Raul Ramirez, Jr., Rdd Lajollanfastdash covered the 350 yards in :17.461 seconds, a 95-speed index into a 5 mph crosswind. Jose Sanchez saddled the son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash to his fifth win in six starts this season. The $129,396 winners' purse boosted his total earnings mark to $286,477.

"He just dug in and ran such a great race. The 2 had me best by 3/4 of a length and we still came out ahead. His only loss came in the Lee Berwick - that's just racing. I knew he would come back strong," Ramirez, Jr., said. Owner Miguel Aguilar purchased the gray gelding at last year's LQHBA Yearling Sale for $10,000 from breeder Richard Dale Domingue. Rdd Lajollanfastdash is out of the Streakin La Jolla mare La Jollan Queen. His only off-the-board performance came in the $690,297 Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1) when he never had a chance after getting shutoff at the start.

"We are so proud of this horse - this is a true team effort and we thank everyone," owner Aguilar said following the race.

Still a maiden, Jls Shakem Tee Cos picked up $55,712 for his runner-up effort. Bobby Martinez trains the son of first crop sire Tee Cos for owner Bobby J. Barnett. Damian Martinez rode the JLs-Speed Horse Ranch, Inc.-bred out of Shaken Thru Zoom, by Shazoom. He sold for $22,000 in last summer's LQHBA Yearling Sale.

Fastest qualifier One Hot Flame put in a late effort to get third for owner Double H Racing Investment LLC and trainer Adrian Huitron. Manuel Gutierrez rode the Fast Prize Dash gelding out of Rump Shaken, by Finance The Cat (TB). Margie Loup bred the $10,500 LQHBA Sale graduate.

Tf Racee Runaway, Tf Ms Perry Runaway, Gone Swingin, Tellem Im Pumped, Lightemupwithcharm, Msm Runaway Dash and Fired Up Perry completed the field.

Swinginstar Dominated LQHBA Sale Invitational

Ridden by jockey Damian Martinez, Swinginstar rolled to an easy one-length win in the $35,943 LQHBA Sale Invitational Saturday afternoon at Fair Grounds Race Course. Big Daddy Bux was second a nose ahead of Operator On Fire who finished third.

Owned-and-bred by Narcisco Flores, Swinginstar completed the 350 yards in :17.849 seconds into an 8 mph headwind. Conditioned by Bobby Martinez, the son of Swingin Jess picked up $13,658 for the effort.

Out of the Tres Seis mare Lil Rising Star, he has won four of five starts and earned $53,264 this season. He was also a finalist in the RG1 Lee Berwick Futurity.

Lanny Keith saddled Big Daddy Bux to his second place finish for owner Maria Garza. Richard and Janell Simon bred the Zoomin for Bux gelding from the Make It Anywhere mare Run Abby Run. Ridden by J.R. Ramirez, Big Daddy Bux earned $8,267 for the effort.

Operator On Fire races for owner Jeffery Alton Locklear and trainer Trey Ellis. Paul Ryder bred the son of Fighter On Fire from the Dashing Val mare A Dashing Operator. Ridden by John Hamilton Operator On Fire picked up $5,751 for third.

Racing Kane, Mr Jess Black, Sir Dre, Tee Mata, Royal Quick Patriot, Fast Streakin Nick and Rf My Special Duck completed the field.
