Delta Downs Features Louisiana Showcase Night on Season Closer

The program featured eight stakes races for Louisiana-bred horses including the richest Quarter Horse race in track’s 43-year history, the $690,295 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) (see related story) and the $244,430 Delta Downs Derby (RG2) (see related story).
Louisiana Classic (RG2)
This year’s $100,000 Louisiana Classic(RG2) was taken by multiple graded stakes winner Open Me A Corona, who went over the $800,000 mark in career earnings with the score.

T M Ranch's Heza Louisiana Dash, by Heza Fast Dash, picked up $20,00 for finishing second. Kenneth Roberts, Sr. trains with Gilbert Ortiz getting the riding call. Jumonville Farms and Burnett Ranches LLC is the breeder.
Icanonlyemagine, a 4-year-old Swingin Jess gelding out of Real Or Imagined, by Dash For Cash, was third. Also trained by Roberts, the sorrel gelding races for owner Bobby Cox. The Daniel Trahan bred gelding was ridden by Donald Watson.
Flying Breed Stakes
Jockey Donald Watson rode Scoopies Leaving You to victory in the $50,000 Flying Breed Stakes. Joel Galindo owns the 5-year-old horse by Coronas Leaving You from the Toast To Dash mare Ms Scoopies Toast.

Donna and Kenneth Weeks Bjs Magic Wings picked up $10,000 for second. J. Ramirez was aboard the Dragon Wings gelding out of Magic Sine, by First To Shine for trainer Kenneth Weeks. Bessie Lea Jeane is the breeder.
Michael Taylor saddled Oak Tree Opener to third for owner Ascencion Cepeda. Joe Badilla, Jr. was up on the Oak Tree Special 5-year-old out of Eyes Of Lela, by Mr Eye Opener. Ray Moore is the breeder.
Live Oak Stakes
B And G Fast Dash won the only distance race of the night as he took the $50,000 Live Oak Stakes at 870 yards under jockey Donald Watson.

Game Own finished second for owner Yaima Grillo and trainer Yoani Abreu. J.R. Ramirez rode the Game Patriot 5-year-old out of My Own Fortune, by Six Fortunes. Bred by Kenneth Fletcher, he picked up $10,000 for the effort.
JLS Speed Horse Ranch, Inc.'s homebred Jls Book Of Psalms finished third under jockey Lucas Constantin. Lanny Keith trains the First Prize Perry 5-year-old out of Psalmist, by Osceola Warrior.
Louisiana Juvenile One Hot Flame was victorious in the $50,000 Louisiana Juvenile, which serves as a consolation race for the Lee Berwick Futurity. One Hot Flame is owned by Double H Racing Investment, LLC and is trained by Adrian Huitron.

Martin Trejo saddled Zooboo to second place for owner Rosalio Espinosa. Zingelman and Crenwelge bred the Coronas Leaving You gelding from the Dashin Bye mare Zoobilee. J.R. Ramirez was up to earn $10,000.
Okey Dokey Bob, an Okey Dokey Fantasy gelding owned by Abraham Huitron and trained by Adrian Huitron finished third. Lynnette Douget bred the 2-year-old from the Fishers Dash mare Fishers Prissy Lady. He picked up $5,500 for the effort.
Flashy Hemp Stakes
Oak Hill Streak proved much the best in the $50,000 Flashy Hemp Stakes for older fillies and mares. Gilbert Ortiz guided the John Stinebaugh trainee to victory for owner Vanessa Bartoo, who won the Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1) later on Saturday's race card.

Martin Trejo's owned-and-trained Scooter Prize earned $10,000 for finished second. David Alvarez rode the First Prize Perry mare out of Royal Baby Scooter, by A Royale High. John Leger is the breeder.
First Kiss Jitter, another 4-year-old daughter of Heza Fast Dash, finished third for owner/trainer Bobby Martinez. Damian Martinez rode the sorrel filly from the Easy Dozen mare Nancys Easy. McM Farm, LLC is the breeder. She earned $5,500.
Louisiana Starter Stakes
And finally it was Happie Happie Happie who won the $40,000 Louisiana Starter Stakes with David Alvarez in the saddle. Happie Happie Happie is trained by Juan Carrillo, Jr. and is owned by Yiret Duran.

Trainer Orlando Orozco saddled Royal Aztec to second place for owner/breeder Luis Castellanos. Alfonso Lujan rode the Zoomin for Bux gelding out of Eyes Wacky, by A Royal Symphony. He earned $8,000 for the effort.
Juan Garrillo's owns-and-trains third place finisher Tf Hez Jess Rowdy. Antonio Alberto was aboard the Tate Farms' bred 4-year-old son of Mighty Corona out of Tf Ms Special Perry, by Special Leader. Tf Hez Jess Rowdy picked up $4,400.
Delta Downs is now dark until its 2016-17 Thoroughbred season gets underway on Wednesday, October 19.
