Jet Black Zoomer Scores Biggest Career Win in LA Champions Day Juvenile

Joseph Landreneau's, Jet Black Zoomer wins the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day QH Juvenile (RG2) at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans Saturday.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—DECEMBER 12, 2015—Breaking his maiden less than a month ago Jet Black Zoomer put in a strong finish from the outside post to defeat Micmac Warrior by half-a-length in Saturday's $100,0000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile(RG2) at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.

Micmac Warrior ducked in late causing interference and was disqualified and placed fourth, moving Telarosa and Fast Ladys Man into the second and third place slots. The change in the order of finish produced a 1-2-3 finish in the restricted G2 Juvenile for leading sire Jet Black Patriot.

Ridden by Antonio Alberto, Jet Black Zoomer covered the 350 yards in :17.897 seconds into a 6 mph cross wind to pickup the winner's purse of $45,000 for owner Joseph Landreneau. Kelli Smith saddled the gelding that had also finished fifth in the LQHBA Breeders' Sale Futurity(RG1) last summer at Fair Grounds Race Course. His record stands at (8) 2-1-0 with $72,196 in the bank.

"He just broke his maiden and still had no idea what he was doing! We've been working with him; jogging him in the mornings & today he was completely different! I am looking forest to riding him in Shreveport," jockey Antonio Albert said.

S K T Farms, Inc. bred the Jet Black Patriot gelding from the Shazoom mare Dealazoom.

"We always knew he had it in him; he has matured so much. We are very grateful for the win," trainer Kelli Smith added.

Lucas Constantin was aboard Telarosa for owner Douglas Traylor and trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. The graded stakes winning daughter of Jet Black Patriot earned $17,000 for the effort, pushing her total earnings to $163,807. Winner of the aforementioned LQHBA Breeders' Sale Futurity(RG1) last summer, Telarosa was bred by James Ronald Magnon. She is out of the thoroughbred mare Presumptuous, by Hennessy.

Trey Ellis saddled Timothy and Theresa Stephens homebred Fast Ladys Man. Saul Ramirez, Jr. rode the Jet Black Patriot gelding out of Miss Fortune Lady, by Royal Quick Dash. The $10,000 show check brought her earnings to $61,942.

Completing the official order of finish were Micmac Warrior, Cute Mic Jagger, Streakin Bye U, Heisa Hot Ticket, Punctuality, Shades Of Buck, Patriots Leaving You, Carry On Game and Jess Zoom.
