Not Pretty Pretty Posts Impressive Debut, Sets Top Old South Futurity Mark


Jockey Raul Ramirez, Jr. rides Not Pretty Pretty to a convincing 2½ length win in the Old South Futurity trials Friday night at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—MAY 1, 2015—Not Pretty Pretty, a daughter of multiple stakes sire Dash Ta Fame, went wire-to-wire in her career debut Friday at Delta Downs while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Old South Futurity.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the seven trial races contested on Friday night, will return to Delta Downs on Friday, May 22nd and vie for the winner's share of an $87,255 purse going 330 yards.

Ridden by jockey Raul Ramirez, Jr., Not Pretty Pretty rolled to a 2½ length win while completing her 330 yard task in :16.965 seconds, an 83 speed index. Lanny Keith conditions the sorrel miss for owner Steel Gang Quarter Horses, LLC.

Bred in Louisiana by Steve Tate, Not Pretty Pretty is out of Firecracker Futurity(G2) winner Tf Ms Special Perry, a restricted grade 1 producer from six foals to race. The third dam is the AQHA Racing Champion filly Deelish.

Trainer Trey Ellis saddled Bm Casina Royale to a nose win over Jess Carter V in the sixth trial. Racing for owner/breeder Bobby Myers, the Pyc Paint Your Wagon filly posted the second fastest time of :17.023 seconds.

Coming off a 2¼ length maiden victory at Sam Houston last month, Bm Casina Royale broke well under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo then held on for the win. Out of the Royal Shake Em mare Joyalty, the brown filly has earned $8,100 with two wins from three starts.

Jess Carter V held on for the third fastest clocking of :17.032 seconds. Everardo Rodriguez was aboard for trainer Juan Saucedo. Owner Philemon Saucedo purchased the Carters Cartel gelding for $7,200 at the September Heritage Place Yearling Sale. The first-time starter is the first foal of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jessachild. Valeriano Racing Stables, LLC is the breeder.

Delta Downs will wrap up its second week of live racing on Saturday night with a 10-race program that begins at 6:15 pm. Saturday’s action will include three trials for this year’s $53,595 Old South Derby.
