Mdt Backstreet Bully Wins Magnolia Stakes


Mdt Backstreet Bully runs downs Tf Corona N Passion in the Magnolia Stakes stretch Saturday at Louisiana Downs.

BOOSIER CITY, LA—FEBRUARY 7, 2015—After going four-wide on the turn Mdt Backstreet Bully put in a late bid down the stretch under jockey Randy Edison to catch post-time favorite Tf Corona N Passion by a half-length in the $25,000 Magnolia Stakes Saturday afternoon at Louisiana Downs.

The 4-year-old son of First Prize Perry covered the 870 yard course in :47.224 seconds to pickup his first career stakes win for owner CS Racing Stables. Carlos Saldivar conditions the Louisiana-bred who earned $15,000 to roll his earnings mark to $45,734.

Michael Taylor bred Mdt Backstreet Bully from the Fishers Dash mare Thru Rebas Eyes. His career record stands at (12) 4-1-2.

Tf Corona N Passion entered the race off a win in the Marathon Stakes at Louisiana Downs on January 10. Steven Salazar saddled the Too Tough To Catch gelding for owner Renato Contreras. Ridden by John Hamilton the chestnut earned $5,000. Steve Tate is the breeder.

Wakeup N Dash, a stakes winning son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash, rallied to finish third, a length back after checking in the turn. Donell Blake had the riding call for trainer Anthony Arey. Owned by Geral Dewitt and bred by Phillip Deville, Wakeup N Dash earned $2,750 for the effort.

Downtown Forrest, Mista Jb, World On High and Mr Perrys Blue completed the field. Dash N Kool was scratched.
