Heza Fash Dash Colts Run 1-2 In LQHBA Juvenile Invitational Breeders' Stakes


Dashacrossyoumind (#4) and Heza Louisiana Dash (#1A) finish 1-2 in the LQHBA Invitational Breeders Stakes at Evangeline Downs Saturday night.

OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 29, 2014—Only neck separated Dashacrossyoumind and Heza Louisiana Dash at the wire Saturday in the $40,000 LQHBA Juvenile Invitational Breeders Stakes at Evangeline Downs. Oak Trees Memory finished half-a-length back for third.

Ridden by jockey Donald Watson, Dashacrossyourmind broke second then took over the lead while covering the 400 yard course in :19.774 seconds, a 95 speed index.

After the race, Watson told Racing Ace Martha Clauson ". . .he (Dashacrossyourmind) likes to run on the lead and the 400 yards seemed to help him."

Trainer Kevin Broussard trains the Heza Fast Dash colt who was getting only his second win in 10 starts this season. The $24,000 Invitational winner's purse doubled Dashacrossyoumind's earnings mark to $48,125. Jacque and Brock Broussard own the bay colt out of Doievercrossyourmind, by Mr Eye Opener. T. Rogers and T.G. Fontenot, MD is the breeder.

Kenneth Roberts, Sr. saddled the lightly raced Heza Louisiana Dash for owner T M Ranch. Ridden by Patrick Watson, Heza Louisiana Dash is (6) 2-1-2 this season with earnings of $47,071. Jumonville Farms and Burnett Ranch bred the Heza Fast Cash gelding from the Mr Jess Perry mare Eyejesslovelouisiana. He was also a finalist in the LQHBA Breeders' Sale Futurity(RG1) at Fair Grounds Race Course over the summer.

Oak Tree Memory races for owners Raymond Loup and Dwayne Saucier. Tallmadge Cook bred the Oak Tree Special gelding form the Holland Ease mare Grab A Memory. Jockey John Hamilton rode the bay for trainer M. Heath Taylor. Oak Tree Memory earned $4,400 for his effort.

Completing the Invitational field were Cab Your Neigh, Rbd Fastestdashndeb, Little Blue Dove, Saint La Jolla, De Fast Perry. Swagger Jet was declared a non-starter and Mda Game was scratched.
