Ainthetheone Gets Fastest Mardi Gras Schooling Time, Races Canceled After Nine


Ainthethewone (red blinkers) defeats Ajs Louisiana Chick to set the fastest Mardi Gras Futurity training race clocking in a shortened race card on Saturday at Louisiana Downs.

BOSSIER CITY, LA–FEBRUARY 10, 2024–Due to inclement weather, jockeys refused to ride after Race 9 in 16 schooling races scheduled Saturday for the $600,000-est. Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) at Louisiana Downs.

Ainthetheone bested Ajs Louisiana Chick in the final race (Race 9) to set the fastest time from the 60 state-bred juveniles that competed over the 220 yard course today. Under jockey Arnulfo Gutierrez, the gelded son of champion sire One Dashing Eagle clocked :12.235 seconds.

Trainer Roy Roberts saddled the first foal out of the Valiant Hero mare Shes So Valiant, a half-sister to Oklahoma Futurity(G1) winner Aint She Tempting and Southern California Derby(G2) winner Aint He Tempting. Bred by Arkofa Farm, the brown gelding races for owners Donald Hill and Quency Grant.

Joseph Boyd Landreneau's Ajs Louisiana Chick finished second in Race 9 to record the second fastest clocking of :12.263 seconds for trainer Dale Keith.  Jockey Leonardo Rodriguez rode the $16,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate by multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue.

Arnold J. Trahan bred the first foal from the stakes-placed Ajs Fast Dash mare Ajs Corona Chick. Ajs Louisiana Chick's third dam is the stakes winning and multiple stakes producing Streakin La Jolla mare Streakin Amber.

Jockey Saul Hernandez rode Paint Me Onis to victory in Race 8 to get the third fastest time of :12.315 seconds. Joe Mauncy trains the Paint Me Perry colt for owner Harry O. Stratton. Scott Jeane bred the Paint Me Onis from the Heza Fast Dash mare Rl Toni Lynn, a half-sister to stakes winner Jess A Comment. Champion 2-year-old filly Quick Fun, by Dash For Cash, is the thrid dam.

Ar La Bella Eagle, a daughter of first-crop sire Gold Heart Eagle V was third in the fastest race (Race 9) to get the fourth fastest time of :12.318 seconds. Heath Taylor conditions the filly for owner Jose Valdez Partnership.

Adame Racing LLC bred the filly from the Valiant Hero mare La Bella Brenda, a half-sister to RG2-winner Hezaa Fast Boy. The second dam is champion 2-year-old filly Brenda Beautiful.

Trainer Roy Roberts saddled four of the nine winners on the shortened race card.  All four winners were ridden by jockey Arnulfo Gutierrez.

Tarzanito and The Louisiana Cartel were the leading sires with two winners each.
