One Fast Cajun Repeats In Races And Aces Stakes at Evangeline Downs Saturday Night

One Fast Cajun, under jockey Ubaldo Luna, winning the $35,000 Races And Aces Stakes at Evangeline Downs Saturday night.

OPELOUSAS, LA—OCTOBER 28, 2023—One Fast Cajun was much the best tonight while defending his title in the $35,000 Races And Aces Stakes at Evangeline Downs.

Under jockey Ubaldo Luna last year's winner rolled to a six-length win as the heavy post-time favorite.

One Fast Cajan, a 5-year-old son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash, completed the 870 yard course in :45.383 seconds, equaling a 95 speed index into a 3 mph headwind. It was the ninth career win for the Louisiana-bred gelding who used the Races and Aces winner's purse to swell his bank account total to $171,855 in 20 starts.

Shane Ladner trains the multiple stakes winner for owners Darrin Ladner and Norman Ladner. Terry Gabriel bred One Fast Cajan from the Cajun Rocket (TB) daughter of Lion Tamer (TB).

Runner-up Jess Louisiana Boo earned $7,000 for second. Trainer Phillip Calais, Jr. named jockey Juan Garcia, Jr. to ride the stakes winning son of Jess Louisiana Blue for owner-breeder Paul Daigle. Out of the Sir Alibi mare La Boo Con, Jess Louisiana Boo has earned $95,420 in 26 starts. He won the Race And Aces Stakes in 2021.

Freakin Patriot Dash, a son of Game Patriot, finished 1-1/4 lengths back to pick up $3,850 for third. Arnulfo Gutierrez rode the 8-year-old gelding for owner Areli Gutierrez and trainer Joel Huitron. Robert Touchet bred the stakes winner from the Streak And Dash mare Freakin Dash. He has earned $232,409.

Cat O Mine Tails and Rouges Fast Sister completed the field.
