Prom Queen Nr Surprises in the $50,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes


Prom Queen NR, piloted by Arnulfo Gutierrez, wins the $50,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes at Delta Downs on Saturday night.

VINTON, LA – SEPTEMBER 2, 2023 – In a blanket finish, Prom Queen Nr prevailed by a head at 16-1 in the $50,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes at Delta Downs on Saturday night.

The stake for Louisiana-bred 2-year-old fillies was the first of five stakes at Delta Downs leading up to the feature race, the $448,771 LQHBA Sale Futurity.

Prom Queen Nr ($35.00) and Arnulfo Gutierrez posted a final time of :17.841 for 350 yards over a sloppy and sealed track and earned an 84 speed index.

Kenneth Roberts, Sr. trains the Inseperable filly for owner and breeder William Nolan. She is out of the Sir Runaway Dash mare This Girls a Runaway.

Prom Queen Nr has banked $49,145 in six starts with three wins. She broke her maiden in her debut at Louisiana Downs in March and qualified to the Lassie Futurity (RG2) at Delta in May. Saturday was her first stakes win.

Behind the 16-1 winner was the 24-1 second-place finisher, Ima Powerful Jammer, resulting in a $659 exacta.

Ima Powerful Jammer is trained by Justin Powell for owner Dewey Kendrick, III; Jose Rodriguez was in the irons.

Ima Powerful Jammer is still a maiden in seven starts but has only finished off the board one time, including a string of five third-place finishes to start her career. Her earnings total $20,830.

The Power Jam filly was bred by Richard and Janelle Simon, out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Shakemupperry, making the filly a half-sister to Louisiana-bred graded stakes winner You Drive I Fly.

Hiberto Guzman’s Seperate Em Fast lost the photo for second and was placed third for trainer Brenda Foster. Rene Hernandez was aboard for the filly’s sixth career start.

Seperate Em Fast was bred by Jerry Deville, Jr., by Fast N Famous Eagle and out of Seperate Em Josie, by Separatist. She broke her maiden two starts back at Delta prior to her LQHBA Sale Futurity trail and has earned $21,290.

Completing the field were Grand Feature, Bbs Mooninchick, Jess Train B, Sea Train B, Mp Thornado, Special Wild Train B and Toll Tac Express B.
