Cool Ya Jets Best In Inaugural Running of Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks

Cool Ya Jets, under jockey Ubaldo Luna, winning 145,062 Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks on Saturday.

VINTON, LA–JULY 15, 2023–Racing as the post time favorite, Cool Ya Jets finished strong under jockey Ubaldo Luna to win inaugural running the $145,062 Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks by one-length on Saturday night at Delta Downs.

The graded winning daughter of multiple stakes sire Jet Black Patriot completed the 400 yard task in :20.012 seconds into a 5 mph headwind. The $72,532 winner's purse boosted her bankroll to $ 223,667.

Champion trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. saddled the filly for owner Pete Scarmardo. Bred by Bayou Stirling Equine LLC, from the Heza Fast Dash mare McM On Thin Ice, Cool Ya Jets was second in the LQHBA Sale Futurity(RG1) and the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile(RG2) last season.

LQHBA Sale Futurity(RG1) winner San Lorenzo Moon finished second to earn $24,661. Jesus Marquez trains the 3-year-old Apollitical Blood filly for owner-breeder Rogelio Marquez, Jr.  The Louisiana homebred, from the Heza Fast Dash mare Dashnunder Afullmoon, has earned $373,118. David Alvarez was riding.

Chartreuse Blue, under jockey Leonardo Rodriguez, finished a head back to earn $14,506 for third. Joel Huitron trains the Jess Louisiana Blue filly for owner Rogelio Huitron. Erin Chrisman bred the brown filly from the stakes wining Sweet First Down mare Black Rosalita. She has earned $39,566 in nine career starts.

Rf Debs Dash N Blue, Wild Train Fortune, Pretty Piloto, Coronasr Eye Opening, Jeg Fascination, Jes Winnin Cartel and New Blend completed the field.
