Lrh Heart of Glass Victorious in the $60,000 Flashy Hemp Stakes at Delta

VINTON, LA – JULY 15, 2023 – The post-time favorite proved to be the best in the $60,000 Flashy Hemp Stakes on Saturday night at Delta, as Lrh Heart of Glass defeated Featured Prospect by a half-length.

The Flashy Hemp Stakes was restricted to Louisiana-bred 3-year-old and up fillies and mares and was the third stake of the night leading up to the Lee Berwick Futurity.

Lrh Heart of Glass ($5.40) and Everardo Rodriguez gained a lead in the stretch and held on to win in :16.894 in the 330-yard event, earning an 87 speed index.

Carlos Campos’ 4-year-old filly added $36,000 to her lifetime earnings of $173,132, and she won her eight race from 23 starts.

Josue Huitron trains the graded stakes placed daughter of Five Bar Cartel. She was bred by Jetty and Donald Lemaire, out of the Oak Tree Special mare Lrh Heartofanoak.

Lrh Heart of Glass recently finished second in the Mother’s Day Stakes at Delta and was third in the Louisiana Champions Day Derby (RG3) at Evangeline last fall.

Runner-up Featured Prospect made up ground late under jockey Guadalupe Lucio, Jr. The 5-year-old Prospect to the Top mare is trained by Janessa Muniz.

Mark Langford owns and bred Featured Prospect, out of Sheza Fast Feature, by Separatist Baby.

Featured Prospect is multiple stakes placed, with four wins and $65,538 earned from 18 starts. She joined stakes company for the first time in March, in which she finished third in the Billy Montgomery Stakes at Louisiana Downs.

Miss Pilotos Train finished third in the Flashy Hemp, her first career stakes race. Ricardo Hernandez was in the irons for trainer Ray Robbins.

Miss Pilotos Train is a homebred for Mike Inscore, by Bp Wagon Train and out of Pilotos Fast Dash, by mr Piloto. The 3-year-old filly is three for 10 lifetime with $49,680 earned.

Completing the field were Emorylee, Mrs Kennedy Tlc, Louisiana Tequila, Tf Runaway Kate and Never Sweet. Freighttrain Game was scratched.
