Louie B Quick Earns First Stakes Win in the $60,000 Live Oak at Delta

VINTON, LA–JULY 15, 2023–In the second stake of the Saturday night card at Delta Downs, Louie B Quick picked up his first career stake victory in the $60,000 Live Oak Stakes.

Gilbert Ortiz piloted Louie B Quick ($10.20) in a well-timed ride to get up by a length and a half at the wire. The final time of 46.291 for 870 yards earned the winner a 92 speed index.

Paul Rigdon owns and trains the 4-year-old Brimmerton gelding. He was bred by Jim and Natalie Montgomery, out of Louisiana Lace, by Cuvee.

Louie B Quick added the winner’s share of $36,000 to his lifetime earnings of $117,237, with a record of six wins from 21 starts.

He made his stakes debut last year in the Races and Aces Stakes at Evangeline, where he finished fourth, and earned his first stakes placing last month as the runner-up in the Virgil Bond Stakes.

Rogues Fast Sister was away well and enjoyed a large lead on the rail at 39-1 until she was passed late in the stretch. Ricardo Hernandez, Jr. had the riding call for trainer Gary Mason.

Vickie Vick’s 4-year-old filly is by Heza Fast Rogue and is out of T Frere’ Sister by Cherokee Beau; she was bred by Tammy Brousard and Damian Trahan.

Rogues Fast Sister is two for 16 and made her stakes debut on Saturday night.

Freakin Patriot Dash made his third appearance in the Live Oak Stakes and has finished in the top three in each attempt. The stake was also the 8-year-old Game Patriot gelding’s fiftieth career start, with $221,269 banked and 13 victories.

Freaking Patriot Dash was ridden by Arnulfo Gutierrez for trainer Joel Huitron and owner Areli Gutierrez. He was bred by Robert Touchet, out of Freakin Dash, by Streak and Dash.

Completing the field were One Fast Cajun, Jesscheerforblue, Sarahs Patriot, Masons Jet Black and Midnight Biscuit.
