VINTON, LA–JULY 5, 2023–Delta Downs hosted a rare Wednesday night stakes race, and it was Omar Paredes’ gray colt Jess The One who proved victorious in the $135,690 Open Graduation.

The race was for 3 and 4-year-old horses who began the year as maidens and qualified through trials on June 14.

Jess The One was ridden by Eleazar Hernandez who got his mount out of the gate in good order before he battled for the lead in the 350-yard showdown. As the field of nine approached the finish line, Jess The One and Astieker engaged in a side-by-side duel that separated them by only a neck at the finish line.

Longshot Dress Me in Blue followed the pair to the line another neck back in third.
