Lady Genevieve Scores at 7-1 In $37,500 Louisiana Downs Starter Stakes

BOSSIER CITY, LA–APRIL 1, 2023–Second fastest qualifier Lady Genevieve (7-1) raced to a three-quarter length victory in the $37,500 Louisiana Downs Starter Stakes (not black type) Saturday afternoon at Louisiana Downs.

Under jockey Leonardo Rodriguez Lady Genevieve fired form the gate while completing the 110 yards in :06.948 seconds, a 102 speed index with a 10 mph tailwind. It was the fourth win for the 4-year-old daughter Dragon Wings and the winner's purse of valued at $15,000 boosted her career total to $39,275.

Joel Huiton trains the sorrel filly for owner Rogelio Huitron.  Lynn and Malorie Richard bred Lady Genevieve from the Osceola Warrior mare Malories Warrior.

Runner-up Kw Bella, ridden by jockey Arturo Alvarez, picked up $6,375 for second. Eduardo L. Morales trains the Tempting Dash Texas-bred filly for owner Adrian Hernandez. Bred by K & W Land and Cattle Co, from the Tres Seis mare Tres Dia Noche, Kw Bella has earned $11,764 in 10 stars.

Hunters Swingin Reba finished a head back to pick up $3,750 for third. Jerr-Wood Ranch is the owner-breeder of the 5-year-old Hez Fast As Cash mare from the Swingin Jess mare Rdd Swingin Reba. Trainer Benjamin Wilbanks named Everardo Rodriguez to ride. She has earned $16,113.

Lady Genevieve returned $15.20 to win, $6.40 to place and $4.60 to show. Kw Bella paid $15.80 to place and $8 to show, while Hunters Swingin Reba returned $6.40 to show.

Tf Ms Sweet Mallard, First Ladybug Doc, Five Bar Joy, Daddys Sweet Princess, Fast Lil Streak, One Delightful Tee and Bp Coronas completed the field.
