Sweet Bru Game Winner Of The $25,000 Party Girl Stakes At Harrah’s Louisiana Downs

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 26, 2019—There was something for every racing fan Saturday at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs. A very nice crowd was on hand to watch the Pegasus World Cup program from Gulfstream Park and enjoy the live Quarter Horse racing action.

Two stakes were contested on the card with Bileve winning the $15,000 Swift Stakes (see related story) and Sweet Bru returning to the winner’s circle in the 14th running of the $25,000 Party Girl Stakes for accredited Louisiana-bred fillies and mares.

Sweet Bru owned by Jose Ortiz, went to the gates as the 3-2 morning line choice in the 350-yard stakes and did not disappoint. Under regular pilot Filiberto Maldonado, the 6-year-old daughter of Embrujo Fg out of the Dashin Bye mare Dashing Sweetpea, broke well and sustained her lead, covering 350 yards in :17.676, a 96 speed index into a 7 mph crosswind over a fast track.

Honored as 2017 LQHBA Champion Aged mare, chestnut mare was bred by Ceburn L. Baker, Jr. Gary Shane Mason trains the chestnut mare are was pleased with her effort this afternoon.

"We were a little concerned when she pulled the ground from under her in her last start," said Mason. "But today, she left on the button and never looked back."

Sweet Bru ($4.60) improved her record to nine wins from 22 starts and earnings of $151,505. She has fared well at Louisiana Downs, winning three races in four starts.

Monees Fast Cash with Antonio Alberto in the irons ran second, followed by Tf Ms Perrys Runaway.

Monees Fast Cash, a 4-year-old daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash, earned her first black type with the second-place effort. Fernando Lopez conditions the sorrel filly for owner Elite Quarter Horses. Bred by Daniel Trahan, from the Streakin La Jolla mare Cash For Mawnee, Monees Fast Cast picked up $5,000 to increase her earnings total to $38,735.

Third-place finisher Tf Ms Perrys Runaway races for owner T & T Racing and is conditioned by trainer Porfirio Fierro. Steve Tate bred the 5-yaer-old Sir Runaway Dash mare form the Mr Jess Perry mare Dashadee. She has banked $76,426.

Leaving At Six, Jess A Corona Baby, Spit In My Corona and Fastdashing Lassie completed the field.
