$10,000 Repurchase Jrs Taylors Runnaway Wins $297,200 LQHBA Sale Futurity


Jrs Taylors Runnaway(#5) gets to wire ahead of Second Down Leaving(#2) in Saturday's $297,220 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Fairgrounds Racecourse.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—SEPTEMBER 9, 2017—With a sharp effort under jockey David Alvarez, Jrs Taylors Runnaway got up by a head over fastest qualifier Second Down Leaving to win the $297,220 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) Saturday afternoon at Fairgrounds Racecourse. Yumyumcomegetyousomeh finished another head back in a blanket finish to take third-place.

Saddled by trainer Martin Trejo, Jrs Taylors Runnaway completed the 350 yards in :17.464 seconds , a 97-speed index into a 15 mph headwind. It was third consecutive win for Sir Runaway Dash gelding who won for a $10,000 tag just three races back at Delta Downs.

A $10,000 LQHBA Yearling repurchased by breeder Julien R. Stevens III, Jrs Taylors Runnaway races for owner Rosalio Espinosa. The $118,889 winners' purse boosted his career mark to $132,389. The sorrel gelding is out of No Matches Tonight by Royal Shake Em.

Fastest qualifier Second Down Leaving was a game second for owners Eulalio Argote and Victor Alvarado. Javier Noel Contreras conditions the stakes winning son of Coronas Leaving You from the Mr Jess Perry mare Second Down Perry.

Winner of the Louisiana Juvenile Stakes in July, the bay colt suffered his first loss in four starts. Bred by Grant Farms LLC, Second Down Leaving banked $51,188 to bring his earnings mark to $95,588.

Yumyumcomegetyousome, a Fast Prize Dash daughter racing for Ten To Win LLC earned $31,374 for third. Bruce Bell conditions and John Hamilton had the riding assignment aboard the filly out of Newport Lily by Stoli. Bred by Harold Jeanotte, Yumyumcomegetyousome picked up $31,374 for her effort.

Fabulously Black, Eye Wanna Go Fast, Shez Dead Serious, Stormy T and Tf El Whiskey completed the field. Jess Political was scratched.
