Heza Bell Perry Bounces With City Stakes Victory

Heza Bell Perry (#3) gets up over Jes A Fast Dasher(#5) and Heza Louisiana Dash(#2) in the $40,000 City Stakes Saturday at Fairgrounds Racecourse.

Heza Louisiana Dash finished a nose back in a blanket finish to give Louisiana's leading stallion Heza Fast Dash, who sired the top three finishers, the trifecta.

Ridden by jockey Alfonso Lujan, Heza Bell Perry completed the 400 yards in :19.948 seconds, a 98-speed index into a 15 mph headwind. It was the third stakes win this season for the 6-year-old gelding.

Owned-and-trained by Javier Noel Contreras, Heza Bell Perry has compiled a (29) 12-2-2 record and the $24,000 City Stakes winners' purse boosted his career total to $195,106.

Mars racing bred the graded stakes winner form the Toast To Dash mare De Bell Perry.

Jes A Fast Dasher, who has had three consecutive second-placed finishes against restricted G2 company this season, earned $8,000 for his effort. David Alvarez had the riding assignment aboard the 5-year-old Heza Fast Dash gelding for trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr.

The sorrel gelding, a homebred for owner/breeder Tony Doughtie, is from the Game Patriot mare Jes A Game. Already a graded winner, Jes A Fast Dasher picked up $8,000 to bring his career mark to $475,259.

Heza Louisiana Dash, under jockey Gilbert Ortiz, weakened late to break a three-race win streak that included the Open Me A Corona(RG2), Vals Fortune(RG2) and Louisiana Classic Stakes(RG2) this summer at Delta Downs.

Also trained by Roberts, the Heza Fast Dash 5-year-old races for T M Ranch. Bred by Jumvonille Farms and Burnett Ranch, Heza Louisiana Dash earned $4,400 to roll his earnings to $482,041. He is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Eyejesslovelouisiana.

Heza Bell Perry returned $27.20 to win, $13.20 to place and $3.20 to show. Jes A Fast Dasher paid $5.80 and $2.650 and Heza Louisiana Dash returned $2.10 to show.

Zooboo, Ldn Jessasaltydog and Bankin On Bux completed the field. Icanonlyemagine was scratched.
