Heza Fast Dash Gelding Tops 12 Mardi Gras Schooling Races


Louisiana Downs hosted 12 schooling races on Friday for state-bred Mardi Gras Futurity hopefuls.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 29, 21016—A $10,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale purchase, RDD Lajollanfastdash, posted the top time from 60 state-bred two-year-olds making their first appearance during 12 schooling races conducted today (Friday) at Louisiana Downs for Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) hopefuls.

Saddled by Willie Simien and ridden by Raul Ramirez, Jr., RDD Lajollanfastdash was a 3¼-length winner in the 8th race over Ladies Can Dash. The Heza Fast Dash gelding completed the 220 yards in :12.365 seconds. Miguel Aguilar owns the $10,000 LQHBA Summer Sale graduate from the consignment of breeder Richard Dale Domingue.

The brown 2-year-old, out of La Jollan Queen by Streakin La Jolla, is a half-brother to RG2 Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) finalist RDD Fishers Favorite. The third dam is the "Blue-Hen" Vessels Stallion Farm mare Fishers Favorite, by *Beduino.

Karen Darling Falgout's homebred Chocolatebyelajolla was a 1¾-length winner in the 4th race for trainer Gabbie Watson, Jr. Mario Truilio rode the Dashin Bye filly to the second fastest time of the day at :12.506 seconds. The $7,000 LQHBA repurchase is the first foal of the unraced The Chocolate Rocket mare out of multiple RG2 winner Miss La Jolla. Watson also conditions Dash Goes A Lady, a 1¾-length winner in the 5th race.

Trainer Raul Galvan saddled 2-year-old winners to the fourth and fifth fastest clockings on Friday.

Jose Rodriguez rode Mallards Runaway Too to a :12.514 time, third fastest, in the 2nd race for owner Maria Graciela Flores. The $6,500 LQHBA graduate is by multiple stakes sire Sir Runaway Dash from the First Down Jewell mare Miss Mallard Too. She is a sister to stakes-placed Miss Runaway Dash. Gerald Patin is the breeder.

Galvan's other winner came in the 10th race when Nomemoryafterstoli defeated Streakin Pyc by a nose. F. Maldonado rode the Stoli filly for owner Gilberto Morales. Bred by Mary Thompson, the chestnut filly brought a final bid of $10,000 at the LQHBA Sale last August. She posted the fourth fastest time of :12.609 seconds.

Streakin PYC, a colt by stakes winner and second crop sire Jls Party Wagon, held onto the 5th fastest time of :12.610.

Trials for the $300,000-est. Mardi Gras Futurity will be held at Louisiana Downs on Saturday February 20th and the finals will runback on March 12.
