NEW ORLEANS, LA–SEPTEMBER 11, 2024–Blues Train Too, a sorrel daughter of Freighttrain B owned by Carniceria Prime Meat Market Racing and the fastest qualifier, is one of 10 state-bred 2-year-olds entered back in Saturday’s 350-yard $550,714 Louisiana QHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Fair Grounds Racecourse.

Blues Train Too broke her maiden with a one-length victory in the fifth of 10 trials on August 24. A $25,000 purchase at last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale, the filly is trained by Juan Cano.

Blues Train Too drew post 5 and will be ridden by Luis F. Ruiz.

Other contenders include Cartel Gone Wild, a gelded son of The Louisiana Cartel trained by Juan Diaz Jr. for owners Luis Armando Castellanos and Alfonso Rangel. Cartel Gone Wild is coming off of a three-quarter length victory in his trial, and he was a finalist in the May 25, $292,000 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) for state-bred colts and geldings at Delta Downs.

Cartel Gone Wild drew post 9 and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr.

The LQHBA Sale Futurity is the richest Quarter Horse race ever run at Fair Grounds Racecourse, and the second richest race in the track's 134 year history.
