Big Easy Futurity Trials Set for Friday at Fair Grounds Racecourse

NEW ORLEANS, LA–AUGUST 19, 2024–Sixty two-year-olds, led by San Lorenzo Hustle, are entered in Friday's 350-yard Big Easy Futurity trials at Fair Grounds Racecourse.
A homebred son of the Apollitical Jess stallion American Hussle owned by Rogelio Marquez Jr., San Lorenzo Hustle will be facing open company for the first time off of his second-place finish in the 350-yard, $654,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) for Louisiana-breds at Delta Downs on July 13. The colt has earned $148,376 from four outs, and his record includes a third-place finish in the May 25, 330-yard Louisiana Breeders' Laddie Futurity RG2 at Delta Downs.
San Lorenzo Hustle drew post 5 and will be ridden by Martin Osuna for trainer Jeremy Derozin in the fourth of seven trials.
Other prominent juveniles entered in Friday's trials include The Legend Of Corona, a sorrel Coronas Leaving You colt racing for Norman Williams and trainer David Bustamante.
The Legend Of Corona is coming off of a fourth-place finish, one length behind winner Reletless Politics, in the open 350-yard, $303,000 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs on July 6.
The Legend Of Corona drew post 4 and will be ridden by Leonardo Rodriguez in the fifth heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the September 13, $50,000-added Big Easy Futurity final.
