Twenty-Five Louisiana-Bred Fillies Entered in Inaugural Delta Downs Oaks Trials

VINTON, LA–JUNE 19, 2023–Stakes winners San Lorenzo Moon and Wild Train Fortune are among the 25 Louisiana-bred 3-year-old fillies entered in Wednesday's 400-yard Delta Downs Oaks (R) trials at Delta Downs Racetrack.

A homebred daughter of Apollitical Blood racing for Rogelio Marquez Jr., San Lorenzo Moon will be making her sophomore season debut. The filly is coming off of a 2-year-old campaign during which she earned $347,357 from eight races and won two stakes, including the September 3, $525,000 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs.

San Lorenzo Moon drew post 4 and will be ridden by David Alvarez for trainer Jesus M. Marquez in the first of three trials.

Wild Train Fortune is a homebred Freighttrain B filly trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr. for owners Riley Blanchet and Rodney Verret. Wild Train Fortune has banked $55,119 from three starts this year, and her season resume includes a neck victory in the April 1, $105,000 Mardi Gras Oaks (R) at Delta Downs.

Wild Train Fortune drew post 6 and will be ridden by Benito Baca in the second heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Wednesday's trials will meet in the inaugural $75,000-added Delta Downs Oaks on July 15.
