Louisiana Downs Futurity Trials Draw 100 Juveniles
Chendo, who recorded the fastest winning time from eight 220-yard training races for 2-year-olds earlier this month, will head 100 juveniles making there career deubut in the Louisiana Futurity(G3) trials Thursday.

BOSSIER CITY, LA_FEBRUARY 27, 2023–A total of 100 2-year-olds -- all of whom will be making their official career debuts -- are entered in Thursday's 300-yard Louisiana Downs Futurity (G3) trials at Louisiana Downs.
Post time for the first of 10 heats is set for 12:35 p.m. (CST), with the final trial scheduled to go off at 4:11. The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the March 25, $75,000-added Louisiana Downs Futurity final.
Chendo, a gelded son of the Coronas Leaving You stallion RC Me Leaving You owned by Carlos Gabriel Castro, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Eleazar Hernandez for trainer Santiago Villaseca. Chendo on February 8 recorded the fastest winning time from eight 220-yard training races for 2-year-olds, as the sorrel Texas-bred gelding tripped the timer in :12.375.
Villaseca will also send out A Kool Toole, a gray Jody O Toole colt who posted the second-fastest winning time from the February 8 schooling races. Campaigned by Cynthia Cruz, A Kool Toole woon the fifth training race by a half of a length in :12.525.
A Kool Toole drew post 5 and will be ridden by Eleazar Hernandez in the 10th trial.
Other noteworthy 2-year-olds entered in Thursday's trials include Sunset Well Services' Muddys Black Mamba and Salazar Stables LLC's Mr Prize B. A homebred daughter of the Corona Cartel stallion Muddy Waters, Muddys Black Mamba finished second to Chendo in her February 8 schooling race but recorded the third-fastest time, :12.536.
Muddys Black Mamba drew the rail post and will be ridden by Raul Hernandez Jr.. for trainer Jorge Valenzuela in the second heat.
Mr Prize B was purchased by Salazar Stables LLC for $45,000 at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The Freighttrain B gelding won the sixth training race in :12.537 to post the fourth-fastest clocking on the day.
Mr Prize B drew post 7 and will be ridden by Modesto Pina for trainer Wendy Garcia.
