Shott Gun, Denalia Sweet Jess to Make Season Debuts in Miss Polly Classic

--Bobby D. Cox's Shott Gun and Jose H. Rodriguez's Denalia Sweet Jess will make their 4-year-old season debuts in Saturday's 400-yard, $50,000 MIss Polly Classic Stakes (G2) at Delta Downs.

A homebred Valiant Hero gelding trained by Heath Taylor, Shott Gun is coming off of a 3-year-old campaign during which he earned $149,450 from seven races and was a finalist in the 440-yard, $929,000 All American Derby (G1) and 440-yard, $678,000 Rainbow Derby (G1). Shott Gun drew post 2 and will be ridden by Gilbert Ortiz.

Denalia Sweet Jess races from the barn of trainer Ruben Chavez, and he ended his sophomore season with a half-length victory as the 11-10 favorite in the December 30, $153,000 Evangeline Downs Derby at Evangeline Downs. A $9,000 purchase at the 2020 Louisiana QHBA Yearling Sale, the One Sweet Jess stallion has banked $155,313 from seven starts.

Denalia Sweet Jess drew post 4 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez.
