Quid Pro Quo is Morning-Line Favorite for $106,964 Mardi Gras Derby


Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes (RG2) winner Quid Pro Quo is the morning-line favorite for Sunday's 400-yard, $106,964 Mardi Gras Derby at Louisiana Downs.

BOSSIER CITY, LA–MARCH 23, 2022–Jeronimo Silva's Quid Pro Quo, a sorrel son of Five Bar Cartel, is the 2-1 morning-line favorite for Sunday's 400-yard, $106,964 Mardi Gras Derby (R) for state-bred sophomores at Louisiana Downs.

Quid Pro Quo has earned $94,332 from eight races, and he ended his 2-year-old campaign with a three-quarter length victory in the December 11, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes (RG2) at Fair Grounds Racecourse in New Orleans. The gelding drew post 7 and will be ridden by Humberto Vital.

Trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr. will send out Mr Fast Mallard, a gelded son of Heza Fast Dash owned by Jose Luis Perez Aguirre. Mr Fast Mallard has banked $119,740 from seven outs, and he ended his juvenile season with a third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Blood Money, in Louisiana's richest Quarter Horse race, the December 18, $1-million LQHBA Million Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs.

Mr Fast Mallard drew post 6 and will be ridden by Ubaldo Luna.
