VINTON, LA—JULY 5, 2021—Graded stakes winners Sheza Fast Blood, KK Sandra Patriot, and Blood Money are among the 153 Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds entered in this weekend’s 350-yard Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) trials at Delta Downs.

A total of 16 heats will be contested -- eight on Friday and eight on Saturday. The five fastest qualifiers from each night of trials will meet in the July 31, $1 million-est. Lee Berwick Futurity final.

Sheza Fast Blood is a daughter of Apollitical Blood racing for Rayne Knight from the barn of trainer Michael Zingelmann. A $15,500 purchase at last year’s Louisiana QHBA Yearling Sale, the filly has earned $169,151 from three races, and her two wins include a clear two-length victory in the 330-yard, $319,000 Louisiana Breeders’ Lassie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs on June 12.

Sheza Fast Blood drew post 5 and will be ridden by Gilbert Ortiz in Friday’s fourth trial.

KK Sandra Patriot broke her maiden with a neck victory in the March 27, $350,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs. The Game Patriot filly is trained by Erika Huitron for owner Ruse Ranch LLC.

KK Sandra Patriot drew post 6 and will be ridden by Nestor Duran in Friday’s seventh heat.

Blood Money drew post 6 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez in Saturday’s sixth trial. An Apollitical Blood colt trained by Rosendo Valdez Jr. for owner Rojas Racing Stables LLC, Blood Money was a $17,000 purchase at last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale. The colt has won both of his starts, including the 330-yard, $347,000 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2), and he has banked $180,621.
