VINTON, LA—JUNE 27, 2021—Fifty-four 2-year-olds, headed by stakes winners BP Fling In A Wagon and On Nyx, are entered in Tuesday’s 350-yard Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs.
On Nyx is a daughter of Kiss My Hocks trained by Juan Diaz Jr. for owner TYKHE Racing LLC. The filly has earned $138,555 from three races, and she broke her maiden with a neck victory in the 300-yard, $302,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs on April 3.
On Nyx drew post 2 and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr. in the fourth of six trials.
Juan M. Montoya’s BP Fling In A Wagon is coming off of a half-length win in the 330-yard, $96,000 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs on June 1. The Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt was a $30,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
BP Fling In A Wagon drew post 9 and will be ridden by Jorge J. Garcia for trainer Levi Mays in the first heat.
Other prominent juveniles entered in Tuesday’s Firecracker Futurity trials include Lucky Dice, a multiple stakes placed One Sweet Jess colt trained by Roberto Madrigal for owner J & J Stone Company Inc. A maiden, Lucky Dice has banked $170,577 from four outs, and his resume includes a second-place finish to On Nyx in the Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity.
Lucky Dice drew post 6 and will be ridden by David Alvarez in the fifth trial.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the July 20, $100,000-added Firecracker Futurity final.
