Seventy-Three Juveniles Entered in Firecracker Futurity Trials


Old South Futurity winner Whatahistoric Moment is among the 73 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 350-yard Firecracker Futurity (G2) trials at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—JULY 22, 2020—Whatahistoric Moment and Diane To Be A Hero are among the 73 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 350-yard Firecracker Futurity (G2) trials at Delta Downs.

Whatahistoric Moment is a homebred son of the FDD Dynasty stallion FDD Going Grand trained by Lanny Keith for owner Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm LLC. The sorrel gelding will be stretching out in distance off of his neck victory at odds of 11-1 in the 330-yard, $151,000 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs on July 4.

Whatahistoric Moment drew post 2 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez in the sixth of eight trials.

Diane To Be A Hero has earned $24,958 from two outs at Remington Park, and his record includes a second-place finish, a nose behind winner Whistle Stop Cafe, in the 350-yard, $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Stakes at Remington Park on May 30. Jesus Marquez trains the gray Valiant Hero colt for owner Rogelio Marquez Jr.

Diane To Be A Hero drew the rail post and will be ridden by Rolando Del Rio Pina in the third heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will meet in the August 15, $100,000-added Firecracker Futurity final.
