Delta Downs Presents Holiday Stakes Tripleheader


Undefeated stakes winner El Camino CL will head a full-field state-bred colts and geldings in Saturday's 330-yard, $357,981 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—JULY 1, 2020—Delta Downs has carded three stakes on its Fourth of July holiday program, topped by the 330-yard, $357,981 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) for state-bred colts and geldings.

El Camino CL, an undefeated son of Heza Fast Dash trained by Jose Luis Sanchez III for owner Delfino Lozano IV, drew post 3 and will be ridden by Eddie Sanchez. El Camino CL has banked $151,425 from three starts, all in Louisiana, and the colt’s three wins include the 300-yard, $315,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs in March.

Rogelio Marquez Jr.’s Sir Louisiana Dash, the fastest qualifier, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Luis Vivanco for trainer Jesus M. Marquez. The sorrel Sir Runaway Dash gelding made his debut with a dominating 2 1/4-length victory in the third of 18 trials on June 13.

Q & S Racing’s Coronado Hussle, a Coronado Cartel gelding trained by Eric Long and the fastest qualifier, heads a field of 10 2-year-olds entered back in Saturday’s 330-yard, $151,255 Old South Futurity Coronado Hussle is coming off of a one-length win in the eight of 10 trials on June 11. Coronado Hussle drew post 9 and will be ridden by Rolando Pina.

Fantastic Azoom Jr will risk his five-race win streak in Saturday’s 350-yard, $25,000 Develop A Plan Stakes (G3). Trained by Jose Carrizales for owner J & J Stables LLC, the 4-year-old Fantastic Corona Jr stallion won three stakes ranging in distance from 250 to 400 yards during the Louisiana Downs winter meet. Fantastic Azoom Jr drew post 4 and will be ridden by Ricardo Hernandez Jr.
