VINTON, LA—JUNE 7, 2020—Fifty-one 3-year-olds, headed by multiple graded stakes winner Runaway Second Down, are entered in Wednesday’s 350-yard Old South Derby trials at Delta Downs.

Runaway Second Down will be making his first start since January 18, when the gray son of Sir Runaway Dash scored a nose victory as the 3-5 favorite in the second division of the 350-yard, $25,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes (R) at Louisiana Downs. The gelding earned $413,526 from eight starts during his 2-year-old campaign, and his four wins included the 350-yard, $700,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs, and the 350-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes (RG2) at Fair Grounds Racecourse in New Orleans.

Runaway Second Down drew post 2 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez for owner E & V Horse Racing LLC and trainer Robi Meche in the fifth of six trials.

Javier de los Santos Muzquiz’s Baby Licious will make her sophomore season debut in the fourth heat. A bay daughter of champion FDD Dynasty trained by Jose Luis Sanchez III, Baby Licious is coming off of a 2-year-old campaign during which she banked $55,506 from four outs and ran second, a neck behind winner Trump My Record, in the 300-yard, $254,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Delta Downs.

Baby Licious drew post 4 and will be ridden by Eddie Sanchez.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the July 3, $98,150 Old South Derby final.
