A full field of accredited Louisiana-bred fillies and mares will compete in the $25,000 Party Girl Stakes. Corona Down Perry owned by Carlos Acuna, has been installed as the 3-1 morning line choice in the 330-yard stakes.
The daughter of Coronas Leaving You was bred by Grant Farms LLC and will be seeking her fifth career victory. Trained by Martin Trejo, the Evangeline Downs stakes winner exits a fourth-place finish in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Derby last month at Fair Grounds. David Alvarez, who has ridden the 4-year-old mare in three of her last four starts, has the call and will break from post position six.
“She competed in two stakes toward the end of last year in Louisiana,” said Trejo. “The race at Fair Grounds was tough and shortening to 330 yards is a good distance. David stood her in the gates this morning and I think she will run very well here on Saturday.”
Bibbity Bobbity Blue, who also competed in the championship race on December 14, is a logical contender. Sired by Jess Louisiana Blue, she begins her 5-year-old campaign with a record of two wins from 13 starts for owner Luciano Rodriguez. Trained by Luis Martinez, she will be ridden by Eddi Martinez. Trainer Lanny Keith will saddle Chloes Got Game, who made her last start in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic at Fair Grounds. Antonio Alberto will pilot the 5-year-old daughter of Game Patriot for owners Chloes Got Game Partnership.
The field for the Party Girl Stakes, which will run as the fifth race on the card, including jockey assignments and morning-line odds, is as follows:
- Fpj Blazen Fast Ryon (Ricardo Hernandez, Jr.), 12-1
- Eyesa Pilot (Gilbert Ortiz), 20-1
- High and Caliente (Heriberto Aguilar-Orozco), 6-1
- Wicked Blue (John Hamilton), 6-1
- Sea Yacht Dash (Donald Watson), 6-1
- Corona Down P (David Alvarez), 3-1
- Cajun Cos (Luis Vivanco), 6-1
- Bibbity Bobbity Blue (Eddi Martinez), 9-2
- Chloes Got Game (Antonio Alberto), 12-1
- This Girls A Runaway (Noe Castaneda), 10-1
